Technology Self-Assessment: School 2.0

This is a self-assessment of my use of technology in the classroom. This meets NETS-T II.
Standard: Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
3. I develop and use digital tools and resources to effectively differentiate content, process, and product for students in order to meet their individual learning needs and preferences.

To hone my resource knowledge skills, I visited the site http://udltechtoolkit.wikispaces.com/. The website's function was to provide links to other sites that provided resources for teachers. I was astounded at the amount of resources available to teachers. I think what caught me most off-guard was the simple ways to use technology. One site allows teacher to create their own word webs . Using technology in the classroom isn't just about presenting the children with a computer screen; its about using technology to prepare the lesson so that when it is presented to the students, it is engaging.  I would love to have this kind of resource when teaching. It does some of the heavy lifting so that teachers don't have to spend all night searching Google for cool technology projects for the class. One of my sites I enjoyed allowed students to create their own digital book. If parents are willing, the book can be purchased and printed. I love the idea of taking an old school idea (having children create their own book) and bringing it into the modern era.
